Portrait of Sasha Grampone in her studio

About the Artist

Hello, I'm Sasha.

I make quiet, realistic portraits of the pets, people, and small moments people most want to remember.

Sasha Grampone is an artist focused on realistic, emotionally detailed portraits of pets, people, and meaningful subjects. Her work captures the small details that make a portrait feel alive — from a pet's expression to the personality behind a face.

A portrait, done well, is not just a likeness — it's a record of how someone was loved.

Working primarily in oil on linen and graphite on cotton paper, she takes on a small number of commissions each year so that every piece receives unhurried attention. Her approach is conversational and slow: lots of looking, careful drawing, and decisions made one brushstroke at a time.

Outside of the studio you'll find her at the local rescue, in the company of two slightly demanding cats, or out on long, listening walks — usually thinking about a face she's been asked to paint.

The Studio

A small, quiet room with very good light.

Each portrait is painted by hand in a small home studio — north-facing windows, well-loved easels, an embarrassing number of brushes, and enough quiet to actually look at a subject for as long as it takes.

Materials are carefully chosen for archival permanence: oils on Belgian linen, graphite on 100% cotton paper, varnishes that protect a piece for generations.
